Eindhoven was the home the electronics giant Philips for around 100 years, and during this time the city grew from a small countryside town to one of the Netherlands' major cities. Perhaps more famous now for their Premier League football team, PSV, Eindhoven is still a European technology hub.
Eindhoven is the home of Dutch design, and although the city may be the height of modern design today but it is in fact one of the oldest cities in the whole of Holland. Eindhoven celebrates its love of design every year at the Dutch Design Week, the second week of October.
For those of you looking for a bit of entertainment won't be disappointed either, as Eindhoven hosts a whole load of concerts and theatre plays throughout the year.
