Rotterdam is the architectural capital of the Netherlands with an amazing skyline. Skyscrapers are being built everywhere along with landmarks such as the Euromast Observation Tower and the famous Erasmusbridge. The impressive Port of Rotterdam is the biggest port in Europe and is the beating heart of this city on the river Maas. Anyone who wants to truly experience Rotterdam has to embrace the port as well. The best way to experience the world-class port is of course on or by the water; take a harbour tour or stay ashore. Or what about taking a ferry to the Unesco Windmills in Kinderdijk? Departing from the Erasmusbridge the fast ferry takes you in less than an hour to get to this breathtaking town of Dutch history!
Rotterdam itself is known for having a relaxed, laid-back and creative vibe. There is always something to do and to explore. Rotterdam has been voted Best Festival City of the Netherlands three times and in 2012 the city was the Best Festival City of the World. There’s the International Film Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Rotterdam Unlimited Festival and the Rotterdam marathon. Our favourite hotspots are Nieuwe Binnenweg and Westelijk Handelsterrein with its many art galleries, bars and restaurants. Also Meent and Witte de Withstreet are great places to chill out, shop, drink and mingle with the notoriously friendly Rotterdam locals.
Hostel ROOM Rotterdam is backpacker heaven in the heart of the city. It's cosy and modern and is THE place to stay in Rotterdam!
