Salzburg Guide

Enjoy History and Culture, Music, Sports, Fun and Action with the Sound of Music in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The flair of Salzburg´s Old Town with many historical buildings, churches, castles and gardens, overviewed by Hohensalzburg Fortess in a breathtaking alpine surrounding make the city a unique beauty. Not many cities are as strongly influenced by the Baroque era as Salzburg.

The large number of churches has also caused the city to be known as "the German Rome". UNESCO nominated Salzburg's Old City as part of the World's Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1997. The first inhabitants date back about 2500 years. The reason for which was the salt, which was a very powerful and expensive gift. At that time salt was more expensive than gold! That is the reason why our city is called Salzburg and our major river is named Salzach.
