1. Soho

Soho has long been popular with young people and travellers alike. This internationally friendly neighbourhood has everything you need, from bars and clubs to Chinese food and underground book shops. It also has a vibrant gay scene and a massive marketing district, which usually means freebies galore.

2. Trafalgar Square

A day in London wouldn’t be complete without a pigeon feeding trip to Trafalgar Square and when you’re done with your spin on Mary Poppins, you can check out the free gigs put on by T-Mobile. Past highlights have included the Scissor Sisters and Kylie but make sure to text in and guarantee you, and your mates a place.

3. The West End

4. Portobello Road Market

Shopping for essentials such as clean clothes is common ground for most visitors and one of the best places for this in London is Portobello Road Market. This is held every Friday and Saturday, and when you’re all shopped out there’s an abundance of patisseries and cafes to recharge you!

5. Columbia Road Flower Market

Columbia Road Flower Market is always a buzz with activity. Every Sunday it looks like they’ve mowed the Netherlands but only until 1pm. Other favourites on offer include potted plants but try and get there early because the competition can be fierce.

6. O2 Academy Brixton

Music lovers visiting London are presented with the same dilemma faced by over eaters at the all you can eat buffet. So much choice but so little time. You can narrow things down by checking out the O2 Academy Brixton. Here you’ll find everything from Fall Out Boy to Massive Attack and much, much more.

7. The Parks

When you want to slow things down and maybe kill time before a train or plane, why not check out one of the many parks that offer refuge from the fast paced city lifestyle? Check out Hampstead Heath, Clapham Common, Hyde Park and Kensington Park Gardens for some greenery and a breath of almost fresh air.

8. Absolut Icebar

If you’re a drinker and want to check out somewhere a little bit trendy, head down to Absolut Icebar in Mayfair. Inside the temperature is kept at minus five degrees celcius to keep the ice glasses, tables and walls – frozen! Everyone is welcome but it gets busy so book in advance to avoid being left out in the cold.

9. The Houses of Parliament

Anything for free is a rarity these days but in London you can head down to the Houses of Parliament and see the cogs of democracy in action. Many debates are held in public and you can sit in and experience first hand, the pomp, circumstance and fire of these internationally renowned MPs.

10. The Science Museum

Last but by no means least is the Science Museum, which is also free. Jump off the underground (metro) at Gloucester Road, electrocute yourself, check out the massive picture library and see just how dangerous the first Hoover was!
