Hostel Information
LET'S GO: 'informed staff, cheerful rooms & a busy bar make this Munich's best hostel.'
LONELY PLANET: 'the party never stops at the friendly Euro Youth Hotel, where Euro & non-Euro youths alike work on international relationships in the bar and lounge.'
The Euro Youth Hostel in Munich has a near perfect location, 100 metres from the train station in a quiet side street. Just 2 minutes walk away from Karlsplatz, the start of the pedestrian zone. Marienplatz, the Hofbrauhaus, the Oktoberfest and the Pinakotheken (art galleries) are also all within a 10 minute walk (or a 15 minute stumble).
The train station is also the hub of the local and regional transport system, so the hostel provides a great base for exploring not only the city with it’s wonderful beer gardens and museums, (be they BMW, Teddy Bears or Egyptian Art), but also nearby attractions such as Neuschwanstein (the Disney castle), Nuremburg, the Alps, the romantic road as well as the Concentration Camp memorial at Dachau.
The Hostel has a great list of freebies and facilities for you. Just check out the list on the left.
The staff at the Euro Youth Hotel are as friendly as they come and are selected for their ability to remain chirpy even when enduring the nastiest of hangovers.
They dedicate most of their free time to researching the Munich Nightlife in order to be able to offer guests the best possible advice about where to shake one's booty whilst in town.Incredibly, despite this relentless research, they also average around 5.3 languages each.
The rooms, like the staff, are clean, bright, spacious, secure and good looking. All rooms and bathrooms have undergone extensive renovations in the last couple of years. There is free wireless internet throughout the hostel. The breakfast is a fill your boots continental affair.
The BAR is the pride and joy of the hostel, serving Munich’s best beer, Augustinerbrau, from as little as EUR 2 for a half litre during the 3 hr Happy Hour, and Jägerbombs for EUR 3,50 all night !
The building itself was one of only 3% of the buildings in the vicinity of the Munich station to survive the Allied Bombings fully intact. It is listed, and the wooden staircase, marble floors and chandeliers lend a great historical background to the modern youthful vibe of the hostel.
The Euro Youth Hotel comes highly recommended by all the leading Guide Books. Let’s Go have listed it as their favourite in Munich for 10 years running.
