The Invention of Bruges - The City of Delacenserie
Start Date: 15th Oct 2009
End Date: 10th Apr 2010
Duration: 178 days
Description:
Bruges is commonly remarked upon as a city trapped in its medieval past, but it’s a little known fact that much of the eastern half of Bruges owes its existence to the architecture and restoration work of Louis Delacenserie! Did you know for example that the Provincial Court that dominates one side of Grote Markt Square was restored by Delacenserie? Well now you do! To mark the hundredth anniversary of Delacenserie’s death, an exhibition on his life’s work is being held in the Bruggemuseum‐Gruuthuse at Dijver 17, 8000 Bruges. Organisers claim they will surprise visitors with their demonstration of just how much of Bruges’ present day image, is a result of on Delacenserie’s vision. The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9.30 and 17.00. The entrance fee is €6 or €1, if you’re under 27.
