Go to Croatia and take a ferry from Split to Hvar. This paradise island is perfect for a day of high altitude bike riding - through fantastic scenery and then a well earned cold beer at the end. Also it was a favourite get away for Jackie Kennedy - so it’s good enough for us.

Make an expedition to the sleepy backwaters of Bruges and eat your own body weight in salted caramel chocolates. This Belgium city has a bad reputation for being boring but you won’t agree after you head down to The Chocolate Line on Simon Stevinplein and make the most of this totally organic chocolaterie. Diets be damned.

Go to Berlin, take a camera and set yourself up at Marx-Engels-Forum near Alexanderplatz. From this vantage point you can just about capture the entire de-centralised, architectural aftermath of the Cold War. A good shot will cram in the TV Tower, the Rote Rathaus and much more.
- Dead Celebrity Spotting
Go celebrity grave spotting at the Père Lachaise – a la Paris. This expansive cemetery can be found east of the city centre and it is in fact the final resting place of Mr Jim Morrison, his considerable musical talent and literary rock star Oscar Wilde. Alas it does span 109 acres so you’ll need to buy a map from just outside the cemetery’s own Metro Station.
