A Traveller’s Gudie to Paris: Introduction

There’s so much to see, do and experience in this city of never-ending surprises.  A romantic night cruise along scenic Seine River is highly recommended – the views are breathtaking, offering a different perspective of Paris. Louvre and Musee d’Orsay are must-sees- they’re definitely two of the best Museums in the world! I could spend days (even weeks!) admiring the fine detailing on the grand paintings, carvings, sculptures and ceilings.

As for Eiffel Tower, it’s everything that I have ever imagine it to be- magnificently elegant and very romantic, especially when it’s lighted up come nightfall. Notre Dame is regal, Pompidou is a futuristic eye-opener, and the views from Sacre Coeur are totally amazing!

Of course, let’s not forget the food!  Eating out need not be expensive and there are definitely hidden gems in (literally) every nook and cranny, catering to all types of tastes and preferences. Whether it’s cheap Asian take-aways or Michellin starred-rated fine dining; Paris is undoubtedly a food Mecca.  The baguettes, croissants, crepes and macarons are some of the best I ever tasted!  Le Boulanger de Monge and Moulin de la Vierg  are my personal favorites.

Shopping Guide to Paris

Yes, Paris is always full of surprises. With its super convenient yet affordable public transportation, vibrant culture scene, world-class museums, impressive galleries and monuments, mouthwatering delicacies and varied shopping choices; it’s definitely one of my favorite cities in the whole world!

Shopping is equally as delightful, whether you prefer to just window-shop or indulge. There’s the famous Champs Elysees with its chic designer goods. If you’re an avid bargain hunter however; nothing beats Vide Greniers (Attic Sales) which occupies several blocks of designated neighborhoods selling second hand goods direct from the merchant (from used to very new items). There are also many one-off vintage discoveries at super low prices at popular joints like Free “P”Star and  Coiffeur Vintage- the queues might be long but they move quickly. And of course, scent-lovers should not miss out  Paris’s many glamorous boutique perfumeries offering the most heady, glitzy fragrances!
