Looking for the best hostels in Europe? We’ve got 36 top rated unique destinations across Europe and Israel waiting to host you!
Everyone wants the best when they travel, and the best hostels in Europe are part of the Famous Hostel network. Want a view of the Swiss Alps? Or how about a roof top party in Jerusalem? No matter what you’re looking for, our network hostels offer it. With 36 destinations in Europe and Israel, our network represents the best hostels in Europe in some of the coolest destinations. Check out why Europe’s Famous Hostels are the best hostels in Europe!
What makes a ‘Famous Hostel’?
We are a network of 36 hostels located across Europe and Israel, and ‘celebrated’ our 25th Anniversary in 2020. We use the term ‘celebrated’, lightly! Our hostels are all top rated, and offer a unique, safe, and memorable experience at a budget friendly price.
To be a become a member of our network each hostel has to meet our strict criteria and go through a vetting process. We expect all members to be the best in their destination, and offer a unique experience and great stay to all travellers. Although we are a network, all our hostels are independent, which is a great incentive for those who like to keep their spending within small businesses.
While we have a certain set of standards for quality, each hostel is unique with their own style. Whether it’s a Swiss Chalet in the Alps, a traditional Andalusian house in Granada, Spain, or a converted monastery in Sorrento, Italy, our hostels are some of the coolest places to stay in Europe!
Why a ‘Famous Hostel’?
There are many reasons to book with Famous Hostels, but we’ll talk about the two most important: you’ll have a unique experience you’ll never forget and all locations offer great value without compromising on quality. And once you stay in one Famous Hostel, you’ll want to stay in more, and get to experience how our hostel family works!
Designer Hostels with a Difference
Gone are the days of hostels being a bland room with rows of bunks. Hostels today are more like boutique hotels, but at a much better price and with social options. And since we really are the best hostels in Europe, of course our member locations meet these standards. We have plenty of heart and soul in our design: from Retro Scandinavian to French chic, each location is different but up to standard! Many of our hostels feature works by local artists and photographers, giving it a more communal and authentic atmosphere.
How About a Little Bit of Luxury?
Staying in hostels might have a reputation for being cheap, but that doesn’t mean they don’t also offer loads of luxury. Our hostels all offer special amenities, making your experience more than you could imagine. Fancy a trip to the Sauna? City Backpackers in Stockholm has one for you to check out! Or how about spending a weekend in a penthouse suite? Five Elements Hostel in Leipzig offers large, luxurious penthouse suites. We really aren’t kidding on the luxury, either. With fully equipped kitchens, heated bathroom floors, and private rooftop patios, you can get a taste of luxury for less than half the price.
Who Are The ‘Famous Hostels’?
We only allow one Famous Hostel per destination, but at least you’ll know you’re staying at a top rated hostel. Every year, our membership changes, but currently there are 36 destinations across Europe and Israel to choose from. For a full list of our destinations, click here.
Not Just About the Party Atmosphere
We understand that there are lots of different types of travellers, and not everyone is after a party. Our hostels are known to be very social places, but that doesn’t always mean you can’t get a good night’s sleep.
But if you’re after a party hostel, we’ve got you covered. Cat’s Hostel in Madrid, Five Elements Hostel in Frankfurt, Balmer’s Hostel in Interlaken, Kabul Hostel in Barcelona, The Flying Pig in Amsterdam, and Copenhagen Downtown are all famous for ‘going large’.
How Can I Book With Famous Hostels?
Booking your stay with Famous Hostels is easy. Simply head to the page of the hostel you want to book through our website, and it will direct you to their booking platform. While many travellers prefer to book through platforms like Hostelworld or Booking.com, we recommend making your reservation through their website as it will be cheaper, and won’t be subjected to third party policies. You’ll always stay with the best when you book with Famous Hostels.
