Brewery Tours in Bruges

The home brewery “De Halve Maan” is the only family brewery in the centre of Bruges that is still active. De “Halve Maan” is situated in the heart of our historical town and offers a warm welcome to all visitors. Although brewing was stopped for some time, since 2005 the brewery has seen a revival of brewing activities and has been open to the public for brewery tours in Bruges.

Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, restarted the old brewery after a thorough renovation of the remaining installation. He launched this new beer under the name ‘Brugse Zot’ for which a unique recipe has been developed. Today Brugse Zot is the one and only beer that is still brewed in the center of Bruges.

By the end of 2008, “Straffe Hendrik”; a beer once developed and brewed by the original Maes’ familiy came back to Bruges and is now being brewed, once again, at the brewery “De Halve Maan” exactly according to the original recipe.

The tour lasts for 45 minutes and costs 7,50€ in 2014, which includes the all important tasting of the beer.
