1. Visit Valencia’s Old Town

Valencia has a nice and cosy old town in the north of the city, called El Carmen. Here you can find many different small streets and large squares to get lost in. We recommend exploring this old centre without a map because you’ll end up in some beautiful places. At the end of El Carmen you will find the Quart Towers. This is a watchtower where you can take a look over the whole city. It is worth a visit and one of the top things to do in Valencia.

2. Indulge in Valencian Cuisine

In Valencia it’s possible to eat good food on a budget! Most restaurants serve a 3-course menu for anywhere between €10 to €20, which is a pretty decent price for the quality and quantity. However, keep in mind that the Spanish tend to eat later than others, so you might have to adjust your stomach clock a bit. They have lunch around 14:00 and dinner at around 22:00. This is why many restaurants are open till 5 pm in the afternoon and open again at 8 pm in the evening.

The most popular dish of Spain is paella and it actually originates in Valencia! Since you’ll be here, you’ll definitely have to try Paella. Aside from this, Valencia is full of tapas bars, which you can find on almost every corner. Eating is easily one of our favourite things to do in Valencia!

3. Jardín del Turia

Valencia is home to a lot of parks, but the biggest is Jardín del Turia. This massive park covers a total of 9km, and is easily the most popular among locals and tourists. Originally, the area where the park sits was a river, but after a flood, the city decided to divert the river and create a park. Due to this development, you can find lots of old bridges in the park.

The park serves as a meeting place and recreation area. There are paths for running, walking, and cycling, so you never have to worry about navigating through crowds. The park is also home to a tennis court, football fields, a skate park, several fountains, a botanical garden, and a playground.
