I stayed at seven Famous Hostels and travelled with a First Class EuRail Pass. Eurail proved to be a convenient, flexible, and sustainable way to travel. Organising the trip was a breeze with the Eurail Rail Planner App!
It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve been back in Canada, and My Iberian Adventure still feels like it was all a dream. I can’t believe I had the opportunity to see the mesmerising Iberian Peninsula, along with the cultures and traditions from the seven different cities I visited all in one month!
My Train Experience
I truly enjoyed every moment of my first class Eurail experience. It was relaxing and I loved that I could always see the beautiful Spanish and Portuguese landscape. I even had somewhere to store my backpack in the train stations while I enjoyed a few moments without lugging it around busy city streets.
Highlights of my Eurail experience included:
-Free WI-FI (on selected trains)
-Riding in the sleeper cabin (I got some of the best sleeps throughout my whole trip)
-The delicious lunch I received between Madrid and Malaga!
Thanks to the relaxing atmosphere of the train rides, I was ready to enjoy hostel life upon arrival at each stop on My Iberian Adventure!
A big thanks goes out to the different staff who assisted me throughout my journey! They were always so helpful, and went above and beyond to provide exceptional care for everybody on the train.
The Hostel Experience
From my first stop in Porto, to my last stop in Seville, I never had a dull moment! Each hostel had activities like Tapas Tours, Pub Crawls, Walking Tours, and Social Hours, which allowed me to meet people from all over the world! Famous Hostels provides plenty of opportunity to meet fellow travellers on your journey.
If you’re thinking of trying solo travel, here’s a tip! Look for hostels which have common rooms for people to hang out in. This is the best way to connect with others and make new friends!
Are Hostels For Me?
After staying in seven different Famous Hostels, I can say they cater to all types of travellers!
The hostels had convenient key card security systems, so you always felt safe! Hostels provide everything from printing services, to laundry facilities, free activities, and more. You don’t have to be a social person either to stay in a hostel. Plenty of locations have quiet hours and you never have to participate in an activity if you don’t want to! However, they can be great places for social people, no matter their definition of fun!
I felt super comfortable approaching staff with whatever question I had. A special thanks to Ana from Oasis Backpackers Hostel in Granada, for helping me keep my cool when I lost my phone and for ultimately tracking it down! Muchísimas gracias Ana!
The Eurail Pass was the best and most relaxing way to travel the Iberian Peninsula. The seven hostels I visited were clean, full of activities, had great amenities, and had amazing staff. I had an unforgettable experience sharing My Iberian Adventure with fellow travellers from all over the world! Staying at Famous Hostels locations allowed my #genuinebackpacker experience to be unique from start to finish.
Thanks to those who’ve followed my adventure throughout Portugal and Spain. I had a total blast sharing my adventures with all of you! If you missed it, you can see moments from my trip in the ‘Highlights’ on the Famous Hostels Instagram page. Muito Obrigada Portugal y Muchas Gracias España!
