The British Capital has an infinite amount of things to see and do. Discover what brings millions of people to London year after year.
Famous for its culture, world famous art, and free museums, London will keep you entertained day in and day out. No matter how much time you spend here, you’ll probably never see it all. But you can at least try! So without further ado, here are the top 10 things to see in London.
1. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
While it’s not the original theatre where Shakespeare’s plays were performed, it’s the closest you can get. For lover’s of the old theatre, you can still catch plays during the season, which runs from April until October. Check out the programme for more information and if you can’t catch a show, be sure to take a guided tour.
2. British Museum
One of the best things to do in London is to visit its amazing museums, and the nice thing about it is that it won’t cost you more than time. London’s museums are mostly free, so you should take advantage. Our favourite is the British Museum, which houses several incredible artefacts. While many items have been gifted to the museum, some still have disputed ownership, which is important to keep in mind when visiting. Notable artefacts include the Rosetta Stone, Samurai armour, an Easter Island statue head, and so much much.
3. West End Theatre
If you love big theatre, then West End is definitely one of the top things to do in London! Check out some websites like TicketMaster and LastMinute if you want to score a deal on tickets, sometimes for as little as £30. Also remember that there’s good theatre across the city which can be seen on the cheap or even for free!
4. Primrose Hill
If you want to blend in with the locals, then heading to Primrose Hill is one of the things to do in London! From here you can gaze in awe of the London skyline and the sprawling urban mass. This popular observation point and picnic spot is a 10 min walk north of Camden and on a clear day, there’s no better place to snap a few photos!
Ever wondered what GMT means in terms of time zones? Well, Greenwich has been the, ‘home of time‘ since 1884! The Greenwich Meridian runs through here and the views from the hill are spectacular. Check out the Royal Observatory to learn more about its significance.
6. The Tate Modern
The Tate is known for pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. And if you missed it earlier, London’s museums are free, including the Tate! There’s bound to be something spectacular to capture your imagination and fire up your creative side. A great thing to see in London.
7. Borough Market
This is an incredible experience ‐ especially on weekend mornings. You can get everything at the Borough Market, from Ostrich eggs, hyper‐organic wheatgrass shots, deep fried Japanese seaweed, sweets, and so much more. This palace is famous for being the Home of the Queen. Buckingham Palace is likely one of the most recognisable and frequented places to see in London. 10. Camden Market
Our last suggestion on the top things to see in London is a visit to Camden Market! You won’t be disappointed in the array of shops, stalls, bars, and venues to check out in this hip market in London’s Camden town.
