Imagine spending long evenings in authentic Italian restaurants with food that will leave you speechless? This section is entirely dedicated to our favourites! We promise you won’t be disappointed at any of these legendary places.
Trattoria Nennella
This place is chaotic and fun, but delicious! Nennella is owned by 7 Neapolitan brothers, so you know you’re in for a culinary adventure. After all, you go to Naples for the authenticity, right?
As for price, this is where it gets interesting. There’s no prices on the handwritten menus, so you get your total upon exit. On average, you can expect to pay about 10-15€ a person for a 4 course dinner, which is a pretty great deal. But your bill also includes as much wine as you can possibly drink, which we’re sure will entice you to spend an evening here. Viva Italia!
Trattoria del Buongustaio
Tiny and always packed, this little trattoria offers traditional Neapolitan ‘cucina’ at a low price. Naples has a long history as a fishing town, so many of the dishes here are served with some of the freshest fish you can get. Since you’re in Naples, we recommend the frittura mista or the seafood pasta. Trattoria del Buongustaio is one of our favourite places to eat, and a food guide to Naples would be incomplete without it!

Hostería Toledo
Run by an enthusiastic family, this place in the Spanish Quarter serves fantastic traditional Neapolitan dishes like Ragu and Polipo all’Insalata. The neighbourhood is also popular for tourists due to its unique architecture and historical relevance, so you might as well stop here for lunch while touring through Naples!
L'Osteria della Mattonella
Located in a more upscale area of Naples, La Mattonella offers an excellent ‘Genovese’ or Meat with Ragu sauce. If you happen to be visiting Naples on a romantic getaway with your partner, we suggest making a reservation here. The atmosphere and delectable food makes for an incredibly romantic evening!
Palazzo Petrucci
This is one of Naples’ most famous and exclusive restaurants. In December 2008, Palazzo Petrucci received a Michelin Star, making it the first in Naples to receive status from the famous and highly prestigious food guide. A typical dinner here will cost around 40€, but if you value the experience of a great meal, this is a rather small price to pay.

Since Naples is the birthplace of Pizza Margherita, you can bet there are tons of places to try out the famous pie. Pizzeria Gina Sorbillo is one of our favourite spots in Naples. But make sure you have time and be prepared to stand in a queue as it’s quite the popular joint. So grab a beer and stand out front until your order is ready – we promise it’s worth the wait!
Pizzería Da Michele
Remember when we mentioned the connection between Naples and ‘Eat, Pray, Love’? The film starring Julia Roberts has made Pizzería Da Michele the best known pizzeria in Naples. Due to its popularity, you can expect it to be crowded, but like all Italian food, it’s worth the wait and chaos. Da Michele serves up their pies to an exceptional standard!

If you happen to visit Naples in the summer, you’ll want to cool off from time to time with a tasty gelato. Fantasia Gelati is known for their award-winning gelato and is always open. Of course we recommend the gelato, but make sure you also try the sorbetti!
