Where to find Christmas markets in Paris

Posted at:5 December, 2017 in Travel Tips

Step into a Paris Christmas

Yes the rumours are true, the famed Christmas market on the Champs Elysees is no more after 9 successful years following a decision that the Marché Noel  was “tacky and overpriced”. Whilst we don’t agree we’re not going to let this ruin our favourite holiday of the year, so we’ve decided to show you 5 other options in Paris this festive season.

1) Christmas in the stars (Noël dans les étoiles)

Get along to Chatelet Les Halles where you’ll find over 70 Christmas stalls with a variety of gastronomy, Xmas decorations, arts & crafts plus much more. With great entertainment for all as well as a great shopping centre nearby, this is a great choice

Date & timing: 27th November 2017 to 31st December, 10am-9pm

Metro: Châtelet – Les Halles

2) Champs de Mars Christmas village (Village de Noël du Champs de Mars)

We challenge you to find anything cooler this winter than Ice Skating at the EIffel tower! Get to this market to practice your skating as well enjoying cabins with art & crafts, decorations and local delicacies.

Date & timing: 21st December 2017 to 8th January

Metro: Invalides

3) Notre Dame Christmas market (Marché de Noël de Paris Notre-Dame)

Blink and you’ll miss this Christmas market, as it runs for only 9 days. Located next to Paris’ most famous church, the notre dame markets offers a great variety of stalls, perfect for finding that last minute gift!

Date & timing: 15th December to 24th December

Metro: St Michel

4) St Germain Christmas market (Marché de Noël de St Germain des Prés)

With 30 Christmas stalls with a variety of festivities, this market is well worth checking out. Located next to the Church of Saint Germain you’ll be in the heart of Paris.

Date & timing: 1st December to 1st January

Metro: Saint-Germain-des-Prés

5) Alsace Christmas market at Gare de L’est (Marché de Noël alsacien à la gare de l’Est)

Located in front of one Paris’ busiest train stations, you’ll find this Christmas market specialising in products from the Alsace region of France. This region is known for its rich culinary history and you’ll find treats such as regional christmas cakes, pretzels, gingerbreads as well as a load more local products, check it out

Date & timing: 1st December to 16th December

Metro: Gare de l’est

So there you go, in spite of the fact that there won’t be a Christmas market on the Champs Elysees this year there’s still plenty of places to explore. Did we miss anywhere?
