Street Art

It might come as a surprise, but Málaga is one of Europe’s most popular street art destinations. Soho’s facades and buildings are decorated with large scale graffiti and murals by many world famous artists, like Obey et D*Face. You’ll especially love the four new murals by Tvboy, the most famous being Malagueños in Calle Vendeja, near the corner of Calle Córdoba.

In addition to splashes of street art, you can visit the Contemporary Art Centre Málaga (CAC Málaga). This is THE experience for curious art lovers, and it’s free to visit. They offer guided visits every Tuesday & Thursday at 18h and 19h. If you need a bit of a break from the sun, we recommend including this in your itinerary.

SoHo Not Just About Art

Málaga’s SoHo district isn’t just about the street art. There’s also plenty of charming shops to discover and lose yourself in, where we’re sure you’ll be able to find a souvenir or two.

SoHo also has great coffee places, international restaurants, bike rentals, tattoo parlours, comic shops, and tapas spots. It’s one of the reasons we love SoHo: it offers something for everyone!

More SoHo Highlights

If you’re feeling thirsty, SoHo has you covered with some of the best spots to grab a drink in Málaga! La Fábrica Cruzcampo is a famous brewhouse in SoHo with seven different types of local craft beer. They also offer a large selection of imported beers, as well as the Cruzcampo variety, including a gluten free option. It’s a great place with a good vibe, live music, and lots of fun!

But if you’re into a more low key atmosphere, SoHo has that, too. The Chelamar Theater: Sala Teatro Chelamar is a space devoted to creativity is perfect for enjoying acoustic gigs and dance performances in a cosy and intimate atmosphere. We recommend coming here in the evenings, but check the program beforehand!

One of the most exciting things to do in any European destination is to visit the local flea markets. The “Made in SoHo” craft street market takes place on the first Saturday of every month, from 10am-3pm. If you plan on visiting, remember to bring a reusable shopping bag with you for any goodies you might pick up as many vendors won’t have plastic bags for you.

Did Someone Say Antonio Banderas?

Did you know that the famous Hollywood actor was born in Málaga? Banderas got his start in Málaga, and it eventually landed him a spot with the Spanish National Theatre. From there, he rose to international fame, but he’s never forgotten his beloved hometown. In late 2019, Banderas opened the Soho Caixabank Theater as part of his commitment and love of performing arts in Málaga. The theatre hosts a variety of performances, so check out their program if you’re interested!
