Ostelli famosi Eurotrip: Copenhagen, Danimarca
Cultural Copenhagen – the 7th stop of my month long Famous Hostels Eurotrip!
With its colourful harbour, cycling culture, and the world’s best restaurants, Copenhagen is one of the coolest cities in Europe. I’ve always wanted to explore Scandinavia, so it was great to check it off my bucket list!
Getting to Copenhagen
A partire dal Amsterdam I took the train with my Pass InterRail Global. The view was amazing as the train rode though the stunning autumn Dutch & German landscape. And then the ride got interesting. Nearing Germany, an elderly man sitting next to me told me we’d soon have to leave the train as it had to board a ferry. And it was true! To cross between Germany and Denmark, the train goes on a ferry and continues on the other side. What a unique experience!
Copenhagen Downtown Hostel
I stayed at Copenhagen Downtown Hostel, located in the city centre. My room had a stunning view over the city, and had a bar and restaurant in the hostel. They also offered a delicious breakfast, and free walking tours!
My Time in Copenhagen
The first thing I did was visit Nyhavn (new harbour), which are the colourful, 17th century harbour side houses. The vibe here is an amazing, and there’s tons of restaurants to check out as well. And if you’re interested, you can do a boat tour from here!
I then went to Freetown Christiania, which is a self governed free state in the middle of the city! You can even purchase and consume cannabis here, which is actually illegal in Denmark.
I also checked out Papirøen, which is an indoor street food market where you can try food from all over the world. It’s located in an old paper factory (hence its name), and often hosts live music!
I also visited the theme park, Trivoli Gardens. This place was definitely worth a visit, even just to see the cool decorations!
Moreover, Copenhagen is also home to the Guinness Book of Records Museum, which is a fun way to spend an afternoon! Nevertheless, my favourite thing in Copenhagen was simply discovering all the nice cafes, local breweries, and delicious restaurants. My favourite discovery was Union Kitchen, where you have to order a cappuccino!
Goodbye Copenhagen
After two amazing days, I took the train back to Germany to visit its capital city, Berlino! You can read how it went qui.
