Christmas markets in Europe look like a scene directly out of an old fashioned Christmas story book, and Salzburg does not disappoint! Planning to visit Salzburg during the Christmas market season? We’ve put together a guide to help you get familiar with the events in the city during this festive time!
Aside from the countless stalls selling Christmas treats, glühwien, and specially handcrafted items, there’s lots of events you can participate in. After all, Christmas isn’t just about enjoying hot drinks and tasty sweets!

- Do you like to sing? You can join a choir open to singers from the general public in an Advent Sing-Along – every Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m.
- Traditional wind music performed high above the square – every Thursday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
- Visit of the Salzburg “Christ Child” with his angels – every Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
- Children’s reading with the “Christ Child” – every Wednesday at 4 p.m.
