1. WestMarket

If you’re looking for a cool place to eat, drink and check out the local vibe, then head to Westmarket in trendy Vesterbro. There’s a wide range of choice, from Danish pastries to Mexican street food, and its hip location means it’s always an interesting crowd. On weekends and evenings, you can catch some live music, all whilst enjoying delicious food and cocktails.

2. Tivoli Gardens

Opened in 1843, Tivoli is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. Located in the centre of Copenhagen, it’s known for its beautiful gardens and the 28 ride funfair. There’s also an aquarium, concert hall, open air stages, and places to eat and drink. If you’re in Copenhagen over Christmas don’t miss the Christmas Market and firework shows.

3. Hip Vesterbro Bars

The coolest bars in are in the former meatpacking area, Kobyen in hip Vesterbro. It’s all about the unique cocktails and organic brewed beer here, paired with some amazing outdoor terraces. The oldest bar in Vesterbro is Mesteren & Laerlingen, which is a perfect place for a cheap night out in a cosy atmosphere. Other noteworthy spots include Mikkeller Bar, Lidkoeb, NOHO, and Jolene’s. The latest hype are the cocktails at Duck & Cover, where you’ll find more than just your traditional Piña Colada!

4. Nyhavn – “New Harbour”

Nyhaven is one of the top things to see in Copenhagen. What was once a busy commercial port is now full of cafes, bars, and restaurants. 8. Strolling the Strøget

Measuring in at 1,1 kms long, StrøgetEurope’s longest pedestrian street. It flows through the city’s shopping area from City Hall Square all the way to Kongens Nytorv, where you can get incredible views of the sea. The street is also home to some of Denmark’s most famous designers.

9. Superkilen Park

The geometric and multicultural space has changed a whole city block into a park celebrating diversity through futuristic designs and fixtures. Superkilen Park is a great place to chill out, skate, walk or bike. This ultra-modern hot-pink city block has become a symbol of all the rich culture in Copenhagen’s most diverse neighbourhood. The shapes and colours here makes it a great backdrop for some Instagram shots.

10. Christiania

Famous for being a self-proclaimed autonomous area within Copenhagen, Christiania is a must visit! The 850 residents have their own laws apart from Copenhagen and Denmark; the most famous being the legalisation of cannabis. The community is popular with artists, activists and those interested in New Age lifestyles. Look out for the political graffiti but be warned, photography is not allowed. 11. Refshaleøen

Refshaleøen is a new and exciting part of Copenhagen. Industrial and gritty, the old ship construction building that served for over 150 years now houses creative companies and other unusual business. In a single visit, you can check out a state-of-the-art climbing hall, an indoor beach volley club, or one of the city’s most talked about restaurants. It’s definitely one of the new top things to see in Copenhagen.

12. Louisiana – Museum of Modern Art

A haven for modern art lovers, this outstanding gallery is a short train ride from Copenhagen and set in a unique beach-front location. With over 3,000 permanent artworks and rotating exhibitions from world famous artists, it’s a great place to soak up some culture.

In Summer you can picnic on the beach, and in winter walk amongst the sculptures in the snow. On a clear day you can even see across the Øresund to Sweden! It’s one of the greatest things to see while in Copenhagen!

Copenhagen is full of parks, so you’ll see lots green space while here. Located by Norreport Station, the Ørstedsparken features a beautiful lake, which serves as a popular spot for locals to chill. The park also offers great spots to rest and enjoy the sun, which is a great way to recharge after a day or two of sightseeing.

Known to the Danes as Pisserenden, this street offers some of Copenhagen’s best cafés. Our recommendation is to grab a coffee at Next Door Café .It’s the neighbourhood favourite where everyone is on a first-name basis and the friendly service will leave you smiling. 15. Copenhagen Botanical Garden

Smell the flowers, admire the glass greenhouse, or just sit in the grass and enjoy the beautiful view. The Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful things to see in Copenhagen, and it’s free. Enjoy a walk through the 10 hectares area, and for an additional fee of 60 DK (40 DK for students), you can visit the Palm House. And if you’re here in summer, you can also see the Butterfly House.

16. Bike it like a local

The best way to get around town is by bike. Just ask any local! Copenhagen has 390km of dedicated cycling lanes, meaning it’s pretty bike friendly. You can rent bikes from lots of different companies, but ask reception at your hostel about their own rentals or any recommend companies.
