Arguably 베를린’s signature attraction, the Brandenburg Gate was commissioned in 1788 by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace. However, during the Cold War this landmark turned into a symbol of division in Germany, and around the world. After the collapse of the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate has become one of the most popular landmarks in Berlin and is now considered an emblem of unity. It’s also the site for several national celebrations, including World Cup Championships and New Year’s Eve concerts and fireworks.
