What to eat in Dublin

Where and What to eat in Dublin

The Old Storehouse

The absolutely typical traditional Irish pub, all live music, Guinness and whiskey.  The Old Storehouse has a prime location right in Temple Bar, one of the most popular areas for revelers, so both inside and out the atmosphere is unbeatable.  Try their homemade burgers or their delicious steaks washed down with a pint of the black stuff and you won’t be disappointed.

Il Vicoletto

Had enough of the Irish far?  Head over to this cute little Italian Restaurant in the Temple Bar area of the city.  You’ll be lucky to find free tables so best to book ahead.  The chef serves up classic Italian dishes of the highest quality, often with an Irish influence.  The kind of Italian restaurants where the Italian population of Dublin will actually go; the true stamp of approval.

The Queen of Tarts

Not your classic pub or sit-down restaurant, but The Queen of Tarts should be a must on anyone’s visit to Dublin.  The cakes and tarts served up here are just excellent, and I dare anybody to enter here and only pick up one cake to try.  They also have a simple lunch menu of 3 or 4 dishes which come highly recommended; simple stuff but executed excellently using the freshest local ingredients.

Whitefriar Grill

Although Whitefriar Grill would usually be out of my price range, if you get there early enough or go on Mondays you can make the most of their early bird menu where you can stuff yourself for 20 euros.  Don’t miss their Brunch; you might well bump into a few people from the night before over a Bloody Mary and a black pudding waffle.

Stag’s head

Right on Dame Street, the Stag’s Head is a beautiful old Irish pub.  The Guinness is excellent but don’t stop at just drinks as the food is some of the best pub grub available in the city.  Try the Seafood Chowder, the Irish Stew and the Beef and Guinness pie and you won’t regret it.  Prices are excellent given the quality of the produce used and the atmosphere is as Irish as you can wish for.
