Bergen is home to several festivals, most famously the Bergen International Festival. This late-May festival has taken place annually for over sixty years. Bergen Base Camp, located in the city center, provides activities such as guided climbing and mountain walks and GPS guiding within the city. Njord AS has opportunities for sea kayaking at their center a 25 minute drive from the city. Nordic Ventures also offers sea kayaking trips.

Bergen offers visitors many opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking and fishing. There are some nearby opportunities of deep-sea fishing. Fedje and Marsteinen are both close to Bergen and good places for fishing. The city of Bergen is also a good starting point for yachting.

There are many excellent areas for cycling in and near Bergen. Routes vary from relaxed, scenic tours to more challenging rides. A particularly popular ride is Rallarvegen, or the Navvies’ Road. You can cycle between Bergen and the nearby city Voss.

The mountains near Bergen are a great place for walking and hiking. The 7-mountains walk is one popular event. This route is approximately 35 kilometers long. The 4-mountains walk is a somewhat easier event, held every May.
