Tapas

No Barcelona Food Guide is worth reading without mentioning tapas! Tapas are small plates of food, and are great for a single person or a group as you can order however much of whatever you want. The good news is this type of dish offers something for all types of diets, including vegetarian and vegan!

For vegetarian or vegan tapas, we recommend olives, croquette, aubergine (eggplant), and garbanzo beans. And for the meat & seafood lovers, there’s lots of tapas to try! We recommend Iberian ham, squid, octopus and frog’s legs!

Where to ‘Tapas’ or ‘Pintxos’

You can find both of these tasty dishes all over the city, but we want you to try the best! So go Tapas and Pintxos bar hopping on the Carrer de Blai in El Poble Sec. The plates here are much different – and cheaper – than in other districts, like Las Ramblas for example! We also recommend Barri de Gràcia as it’s home to lots of internationals and cheap plates! Just wander around and you’ll find something that suits you!

But what’s the difference between the two dishes? It’s really quite simple! Tapas comes from the Andalusia region of Spain, while Pintxos are inspired from the Basque country and are served with little toothpicks in them!

Brunch or Beer

After a few days of sightseeing, or a wild night of partying, there’s nothing more satisfying than a good brunch! For the best choices in Barcelona, you should check out the Sant Antoni district. It’s hugely popular among the locals, and is a great place to take a break from the busy tourist spots. Our favourite spots include El Federal, Bar Calders, and Cafe Cometa.

And since you’re already in the neighbourhood, you might as well enjoy a few Barcelona brews! Sant Antoni is home to Bar Lambicus 和 Fabrica Moritz, which are both famous for their wide variety of delicious beer!

Fish & Chips

You would typically associate this dish with England, but Barcelona has amazing fish & chips! And we want to share one of the most famous places in Barcelona for the locals with you! The Fish & Chips Shop is worth a visit, even if it means having to stand in line for awhile – even just to place your order. We promise it’s worth the wait, but we don’t recommend coming here if hunger is imminent! A cool feature of the shop is their gluten free options!

Good burger joints are pretty much staples no matter where you travel nowadays. So if we’re going to suggest any place to you, it’s Restaurant Barcelona – where you can get everything from juicy beef or steak burgers, as well as vegetarian and vegan!
