Valencia is one of the liveliest cities in Spain and somewhere you definitely won’t get bored. This city is hugely appreciated because it offers moments of leisure both for adults and children. Valencia is a city full of art that welcomes thousands of tourists every year. They can’t wait to experience its culture and entertainment.

The tour of the city starts at Plaza de la Virgen, in the historical centre of Valencia. This square is the most beautiful and emblematic of Valencia. Here you’ll see some important monuments such as the Catedral and the Basilica de la Virgen.

Catedral de Valencia

The Catedral de Valencia is one of the best and favourite places to visit in the city. It has a Gothic style, but after many modifications and renovations, it also acquired a Baroque and Renaissance style. One of the main elements of this cathedral is the dome (a jewel of the French Gothic) and the bell tower known as El Miguelete.

El Miguelete is very loved by Valencians as a symbol of the city. You can climb the tower, and you will have an amazing view of all of Valencia. It can be very tiring to climb the tower, but it will be worth it!

Inside the church, you’ll see the Capilla, one of the main reasons why people want to visit the cathedral. In the Capilla del Santo Caliz is kept the Santo Graal, the chalice used by Jesus during the Last Supper. You’ll have an exciting moment!

Oceanografic is an aquatic museum, a perfect destination for children and adults. During the visit, you can see different areas such as the oceans, and you’ll discover the most important ecosystem of our planet. You’ll also be informed about the problems of our marine world and what to do to protect it.

You’ll also visit the Oceanographic Dolphinarium, one of the largest in the world. It’s equipped with more than 4 swimming pools, and it’s home to more than 30 dolphins. In this area of the Oceanografic, you’ll attend a show where dolphins have fun and perform spectacular acrobatics. You’ll be amazed by their beauty and intelligence. It’s a unique show you have to see at least once in a lifetime!

Outside the Oceanographic you can rent a boat, a transparent kayak, or a bicycle that can ride on the water. This is one of the tourists’ favourite activities after a visit to the marine park.

Mercado Central

Then the walking tour continues towards a must-see spot!

The Mercado Central de Valencia is one of the most beautiful and largest fresh products markets in Europe. It’s also one of the most famous and visited buildings in the city, so you can’t miss it! Here you can try the delicacies and the typical Valencian and Spanish food. The Mercado Central is an incredible place to visit, even if you’re not only interested in food!

Inside the market, you’ll find a very particular architecture, characterized by glass windows.

Barrio del Carmen

The last stop of the tour will take you to a very famous neighbourhood.

The Barrio del Carmen is the best-known district in Valencia, and it’s located in the area of the Ciutat Vella. The name of the Barrio comes from a convent that was right in the centre of this area. Here you’ll admire many examples of medieval architecture, but also you can see monuments of Muslim and Christian origin.

There is so much to discover and to visit in this Barrio. You can visit the main museums, and monuments, but also go to the market or have lunch in one of the many restaurants and bars.
