The best walking tour in Vienna starts at the Danubius fountain in Albertinaplatz, in the heart of Vienna’s historic centre. The first great monument you’ll be in front of is the Hofburg Palace.

The Imperial Palace of Vienna, also called Hofburg Palace is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city. It represented the former winter residence of the Habsburgs. This palace is well known because the famous Princess Sissi lived here. Today, however, it is the official residence of the President of the Republic of Austria. In this large residential complex, you can visit the Imperial Treasury Chamber (Schatzammer) which houses the crown of the Holy Roman Empire.

Inside the palace, there are many imperial suites, but only two can be visited. We are talking about the Imperial Chancellery and the Amalia Residence. In the latter, there are the public and private rooms of Francesco Giuseppe and Sissi. You will also visit a museum dedicated to the princess.
The most visited room is Princess Sissi’s bathroom. Here you will discover one of the princess’s secrets: she used a toilet in the shape of a dolphin. Did you ever expect that?

Karlskirche: the must-see Baroque church

You’ll then arrive at Karlaskirche, ready to live a great cultural and religious experience.

Karlskirche is the most beautiful baroque church in Vienna, located between the historic centre and the Belvedere district. This awe-inspiring monument will strike you right from the start with both its sheer size and architectural beauty. It was dedicated to San Carlo Borromeo, the patron saint of plague sufferers.

Outside you can immediately admire the two large columns, which were inspired by Trajan’s Column in Rome. While inside, you will find the majestic dome, with paintings representing the Apotheosis of San Carlo Borromeo. This painting is a work of 1725 by Johann Michael Rottmayr of Salzburg, conducted between 1725.

Mozarthaus:

If you are a music and art lover, you cannot miss a visit to the Mozarthaus. It’s the house where the brilliant composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived for more than ten years. Even though he was born in Salzburg, he had a special relationship with Vienne, which he loved so much. This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Austrian capital. Inside the Mazarthaus you will see his apartment consisting of several rooms and a kitchen. There is also a museum dedicated to the musician’s life. Here you will get to know his musical life in depth but also get to know many of the objects and instruments that he used. You will live a unique moment.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral

During the last part of the walking tour, you can’t miss the visit to a gothic masterpiece in the city. We’re talking about the majestic St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral is one of the symbols of Vienna, located in the central square of Stephansplatz. This Gothic masterpiece whose origins date back to the 11th century is located in the historic center of Vienna. This monument is not just a religious landmark, but a real national emblem. It represents the symbol of the identity of Austria. It is on par with all other European cathedrals. The cathedral consists of 4 towers. In particular, you will be able to climb the south tower to see the breathtaking view of the whole city. The most beautiful part of the monument is certainly the roof, characterized by colored tiles that form the image of an eagle. The latter is the emblem of the Habsburg Empire.
