Les meilleures galeries d’art de Varsovie

So you found yourself in Warsaw… and you can’t wait to get to know the decent art places here…

No worries, dear friend – our little guide is here to help you!

The places below are just examples of artistic spaces in Warsaw, a nice encouragement to further explore the artistic scene of our city and discover your own places full of treasures.

You are welcome!

Zachęta Gallery

Located behind a square rainbow (it’s not a joke – the rainbow is really square and actually it’s a piece of art by Marek Sobczyk called ‘Simple rainbow’) there is a real diamond of contemporary art. You can explore works of Polish artist there and exhibitions often change so you can be surprised every time you visit the place. The name itself means “encouragement”. The main purpose of this contemporary art museum is to encourage young artists from Poland as well as well known foreign artists to present their art.
The permanent collection contains more than 6000 pieces which include paintings, videos, installations, sculptures, photographs etc. The exhibitions are mostly temporary, and the items from the gallery’s permanent collection are presented outside of the gallery.
The first president of Poland was shot here in 1922. The building survived the WW2.

Ujazdowski Castle

You can find this Centre for Contemporary Art in beautiful Ujazdowski Park (also it is right next to Lazienki Królewskie). Definitely an fine art place – filled with variety of exhibitions, performances, movies but also art workshops. Each day at that place is different!

Museum on The Vistula

– it is a part of museum of contemporary art, and also an amazing place to visit. It is right next to Vistula Boulevards, in close neighborhood of Copernicus Science Centre and Library of Warsaw University. During summer and spring, it is a really great place – with interesting collections, and in fantastic localization – if you like art and wine (which you can get in bar nearby) that place is a spot-on.

National Museum

– old school but very classy place to admire the most outstanding polish art through the ages, starting from the Middle Ages to the contemporary art. You can also see unique monuments of Nubian art discovered by a Polish archaeologist Kazimierz Michałowski. In addition to permanent exhibitions, there are also temporary exhibitions based on the art of various regions and periods. Definitely worth seeing!

Królikarnia

– this low-key place is a perfect destination for those who are not looking for the obvious things and want to explore more underground art scene. Placed in picturesque park, Królikarnia is also a great destination to grab a coffee and just walk around admiring nature.

Not a gallery but a Museum – Ethnographic Museum

showcases the best parts of Polish Heritage on its temporary and permanent exhibitions. If you want to know something about our country from before the WW2 times that’s a place to visit. Learn about our traditional crafts, clothes, inventions, furniture and art or visit one of many special events organized in this beautiful building to get a special gift for your loved ones.

Neon Museum

one of a few neon signs’ museums in the world and the biggest of its kind in Europe. It is located in Praga’s arts complex Soho Factory. Their mission is to document and protect Polish cold war era light advertisements as an important symbol of Polish People’s Republic.

One of the most instagrammable places in Warsaw.

If you need any more tips just ask our staff. :)
