The latest venue of Capsule services joins its sister Hyve from Basel locking the title of Lucerne’s Famous Hostel.
The Famous Hostel community has voted and approved the expansion of its network to a third location in Switzerland. The magnificent city at the foot of the Swiss Alps, sitting only a hour train ride from Basel’s airport, is a strategic location connection other important Famous Hostels destinations in the central European map.
The vicinity to Basel, Interlaken e Como makes it a convenient stop for travelers traveling with an Eurail ticket or Flixbus and taking part on Famous Hostels’ Eco-Wanderer project, a campaign that awards travelers picking means of transportation as opposed to trains, with a CO2 calculator that converts travelers emissions offset into direct discounts at its (now) 47 locations.
Welcome to Chapter Lucerne
Cleverly conceived, Chapter-Lucerne features 80 capsules spread across 5 rooms, all fitting the theme of classical tales. The design is modern with splashes of dreaminess, facilitated by home-designed wallpapers for each room and trippy glowing paintings from local artists adorning the walls.
The living room features a bar serving cocktails, local wines, and hot beverages, alongside a spread of
convenient but fresh food. The decoration is completed with large shelves stocked with books and various seating options ranging from comfy couches to long working tables, making it a great place for locals and travelers to hang out, work, and unwind at the end of the day.
Swiss-Made capsule beds
The hostel is equipped with Goki Lockers for all doors, including those of the capsules. Additional spacious
lockers are available in the corridor with an easy locking system, free of charge.
As the star of the show, the capsules shine. Beyond the privacy and safety provided by the aforementioned Goki locks on each capsule door, the interior layout of the capsules is well-thought- out to surprise even those suffering from mild claustrophobia. Mirrors are strategically placed inside, complementing the paintings that match the hostel’s decorative theme, creating a sense of spaciousness not evident from the exterior. They are also equipped with an air renovation column and A/C that maintain enjoyable temperatures and air quality throughout your sleep. Other notable features include dimmable interior lights and efficient sound isolation for those who suffer from rage with roommates rolling plastic bags during early check outs.
The 47 best hostels in Europe
With Chapter Lucerne’s addition, the Famous Hostels network now counts with 47 members in 19 countries. The association, founded in 1995, has ever since been working in promoting the hostel and backpacker culture by identifying the best independent hostel in each of its cities Europe and Israel, creating a label quality, and promoting training, benefits for members, staff and travelers.
