Paella
You’ve probably heard of the famous Spanish dish, Paella. But did you know it actually originated in Valencia? Naturally, it’s our first suggestion in our Valencia Food Guide and we think you’re going to love it!
This rice dish typically includes shrimp, vegetables, and fresh herbs, but there are many variations depending on your preference. The dish varies from region to region, but Valencian Paella is made with white rice, green vegetables, meat (rabbit, chicken or duck), and beans.
And if you follow a vegetarian diet, no problem! You can order to dish with vegetables so you won’t have to miss out on this incredible experience.
For one of the best places in Valencia for paella, try out La Pepica, near Playa la Malvarrosa.
Tortilla Espanola
Also known as a Spanish omelette! Consisting of eggs, potatoes, onions, fried in a pain with olive oil, it’s enough to satisfy your cravings. This is a great option for lunch as it’s filling, but not to the point you won’t have room for dinner. Traditionally, tortilla espanola is served with bread. Curious about this tasty delight? We recommend Bodega LaPreseta El Grao to give the Tortilla Espanola a go!

Fideua
This is basically paella’s delicious cousin! The main difference between the dishes is fideua uses buckwheat noodles, rather than rice. Traditional fideua is topped with seafood or shellfish, so stay away if you have an allergy. If you want to try this dish out, we recommend L’estimat, near the beach!
Gazpacho
Gazpacho is essentially a cold served tomato soup, but it’s much more exciting. The recipe requires the ingredients to settle overnight for the best taste, so know a lot of effort went into it! Restaurant La Comisaria is famous for their incredible gazpacho, so head there and give this mouth-watering dish a shot!
Sangria
While it’s not quite food, you should definitely enjoy a bit of this tasty drink while in Valencia! Sangria is best enjoyed in the sun with friends, especially after a day of sightseeing. It can be quite sweet, so be sure to order some water on the side and be kind to your body. While you can get Sangria anywhere, we recommend Bocadella Tapas!
