Ostelli famosi Eurotrip: Berlino, Germania
Party Hot Spot Berlin – The 8th Stop on My Month-Long Famous Hostels Eurotrip!
When people say New York is the city that never sleeps, it usually means they’ve never been to Berlin. The German capital is known for its never ending-nightlife, countless hipster hangouts, and rich history!
Getting to Berlin
I took an night train from Copenhagen and got the best sleep ever! Seriously! I don’t remember the last time I slept so well! My Pass InterRail Global provided me with a cosy sleeper cabin on the overnight train from Copenhagen. Getting to the hostel was easy too as it was a short distance from Ostbahnhof!
Sunflower Hostel Berlin
I had the free breakfast in the hostel and found a cosy spot to do a bit of work! The rooms were quite spacious, and exceptionally clean! The hostel also offered a wide range of activities, including several walking tours! You’d be silly to not book Sunflower Hostel!
My Time in Berlin
I joined the Berlin History Walking Tour as a way to satisfy my inner history nerd! We started at Isola dei Musei, home to 5 museums and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. In front of a magnificent building, our guide sat us down and literally drew out Germany’s history in the sand. It was a brilliant way to explain such complicated history!
From Museum Island we walked past a few iconic sites to Checkpoint Charlie. During the Cold War, this was one of the checkpoints where you could cross from West to East Berlin.
We took a short break and checked out Charlie’s Beach, a chilled area full of food and drink stalls. The guide recommended we try Currywurst, and I was pleasantly surprised they even had a vegetarian kind!
We eventually continued to more places, such as Hitler’s Bunker (which is basically a parking lot now), the Memorial of Murdered & Missing Jews of Europe, and ended at Brandenburger Tor.
The next day I visited the East Side Gallery, which is a 1316m long section of the Berlin Wall full of amazing graffiti, and known as an international monument for freedom.
Party Tip
Since I have partied in Berlin many times before I decided not to go out on this trip. But if you want to experience something special, go to Saloon Zur Wilden Renate! A place you won’t soon forget!
Goodbye Berlin
After a great time in the city, it was on to my next destination: Vienna, Austria. You can read about how it went qui.
