But Amsterdam really comes into its own on King’s Day on the 27th April. During the celebrations of the country’s monarchy, the city comes to life in a sea of orange and the streets are filled with people eating, drinking, dancing and making the most of a day off work. During the day the streets of the city become one enormous flea market and during the night the hundreds of thousands of inhabitants and tourists stream into the bars and clubs of the city centre.
