From notoriously romantic cities, to smaller coastal towns, here’s our destination guide to a romantic weekend in Europe on a budget!
This tiny Belgian town is our first suggestion for a romantic European weekend on a budget. Bruges has designated UNESCO Heritage status, so you know it’s something special. Known as the ‘Venice of the North’ the city’s waterways form it’s heart and are perfectly romantic to stroll alongside. Rent a boat for a romantic ride around the historic canals, or explore the cobbled streets on foot or by bike. Whatever you decide, you’ll be pleased with the romantic atmosphere!
Bruges is a great budget destination because it’s mostly about seeing the preserved buildings and canals. For sightseeing, you can see Burg Square, Markt Square, the Gruuthuse & Museum, and Saint John’s Hospital, dating back to 1188. But if you want to spend some cash, there’s plenty of great shops, including great flea markets. And if you tire of eating delectable Belgian chocolates, move onto the famous Belgian fries, cheese, and beer.
