10 Most Instagrammable Places in Rotterdam

Heading to the architectural wonder of Rotterdam and looking for the most Instagrammable places? We’ve got you covered in our guide to the best spots in the city!

Known for it’s architecture and skyline, Rotterdam is full of Instagrammable places! For all those happy snappers out there, Rotterdam provides a wealth of colourful must-see spots that will make your camera, and your Instagram feed, happy.

Europe’s biggest port and one of the world’s most unique cities for architecture; Rotterdam has pinned itself firmly on the map as an exciting place to visit. With cobbled streets juxtaposed to cutting-edge modern architecture, the city is buzzing with history and creativity. We love the quirky corners and huge buildings that live side by side in this Dutch city, so without further ado, here are the 10 Most Instagrammable Places in Rotterdam!

1. Erasmus Bridge

Affectionately known as, ‘The Swan’ due to its asymmetrical lines, this awesome bridge cuts a great shape onto the Rotterdam skyline. Checking out the view from the waterfront is impressive enough, but this is also a cool spot to snap some pics at sunset with the city as a backdrop. At night, the bridge and city light up, giving you an even more impressive backdrop. No wonder it’s the first on our list for the 10 most instagrammable places in Rotterdam.

2. Cube House

These vertiginous 1970 architectural gems are a quirky, bright photo opportunity waiting to be snapped. Especially if you fancy the colour yellow. The cubes are angled at 45 degree angles, and are designed to create optimum living space. They’re also built to be symbolic of trees clustered to form a forest. Designed by Piet Blom, they are regarded as avant garde architecture examples, even 50 years due to their form and unique balanced structure.

3. Centraal Station

Rotterdam’s Centraal Station is more than just a place to hop off the train. It’s an architectural wonder, both inside and out. With one side of the structure rising from the ground to form an arrow pointing to the city centre, you’ll find lots of creative angles to get the perfect shot from. Easily one of our favourite Instagrammable places in Rotterdam.

4. Kralingse Plas

If you got to the Netherlands and don’t see any windmills, then did you even really go to the Netherlands? To make sure you don’t miss out, we suggest visiting Kralingse Plas. This park provides a beautiful lakeside area to view the city on the horizon and is a peaceful place for a picnic or sunset. Enjoy the changing light on the city and see the windmills on the waterfront.

5. The Euromast

At 186.6m the Euromast is the tallest observation tower in the Netherlands, with additional decks added since its 1950s inception by designer Hugh Masskant. As all cool towers do, there’s a rotating observation spot to get the best views of the city, and a couple of decks where you can even grab a bite to eat. This is the best spot for a birds-eye view!

6. Markthall

A relatively new kid on the block, Markthal is a foodies paradise. And it’s also one of the most Instagrammable places in Rotterdam. Markthal is a massive, but vibrantly coloured structure housing Rotterdam’s food mecca. You can eat your way from stall to stall trying local and international delicacies, and snap some shots along the way. The ceiling is covered in one of the world’s largest pieces of artwork, The Horn of Plenty, painted by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. Photographing Markthal from the outside is recommend. You can get plenty of shots outside from Blaak Square.

7. Delfshaven

One of the oldest areas of Rotterdam, Delfshaven survived the WWII bombings and retains the canal side charm of yesteryear. Walk along the waterfront and see the old breweries and churches, explore the boutique shops, and a 18th century replica warship. This is a unique place to see Rotterdam’s historic buildings and step into the past. You’ll certainly get lots of great Instagram shots here!

8. Luchtsingel

For those who love bridges and the colour yellow, you won’t want to miss the bright yellow Luchtsingel. It’s a walkway connecting pedestrians from the centre of town to the North of the city. This one is dazzlingly bright and symmetrical, so it’s has to be included in our suggestions for the most Instagrammable places in Rotterdam.

9. De Bijenkorf Rooftop

On top of this popular Dutch department store is The Beehive – a famous and popular artist residency. From the viewing platform, you can see all the city’s highlights including the Euromast, Maastoren, Luxor Theatre, and De Brug. No matter the weather, this is one of our favourite Instagrammable places in Rotterdam.

10. Maastunnel

The last suggestion on our list of the 10 most Instagrammable places in Rotterdam is the Maastunnel. This is the oldest underwater tunnel in the Netherlands and dates back to 1942. It’s still used today by lots of Rotterdammers to get across town, but has made itself a name on Instagram with its satisfying symmetry.
