1. Pop by Rich Mix

Just along Shoreditch High Street is Rich Mix, a cinema and creative centre that features up-and-coming artists and their fascinating exhibitions. Formerly a large leather factory, this five-story building has since been transformed into a multi-arts venue. Rich Mix regularly hosts a wide variety of events — from mainstream releases and regular art projects, to specialised film festivals and artist performances. The best part? Most of these activities are free, so go ahead and see what’s in store for you!

2. See the Remains of the London Wall

London was once surrounded by a massive city wall which was built by the Romans. Its remains can still be seen all over the city, and some of it is in Shoreditch. For a quick history lesson, you can walk over to Noble Street to take snapshots and learn more about London’s fascinating ancient past.

3. Discover Street Art on Brick Lane

Brick Lane’s walls are filled with vibrant colours of beautiful murals. Some of London’s most famous street paintings can be seen here, and a lot of them are by renowned artists like Banksy, Phlegm, and Conor Harrington. A brief stroll through the neighbourhood will enable you see the city’s lively street art scene. While you’re in Brick Lane, pay a visit to Beigel Bake, famous for its affordable and delicious pastries. The bestsellers are the bagels, which the store produces 7,000 of every day. A tour of East London would be incomplete without a taste of the famous Salt Beef Bagel, which only costs £4.50. The shop is open 24 hours a day, so you can stop by early in the morning for breakfast or late in the evening after a day of sightseeing.

5. Take a Stroll around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was built primarily for the 2012 Olympics, and thus houses the Olympic Village and London Stadium. Since hosting the Olympics, the complex itself became a popular venue for other major sports tournaments. With a capacity of 60,000, it now hosts West Ham United’s home games. But you don’t have to watch a football game to appreciate the park. There’s various family-friendly activities, like taking a boat tour along the canal, and playing by the fountains. A great spot to check out in East London on a budget!

6. Shop at the Old Spitalfields Market

Il Old Spitalfields Market is in the heart of the East London, and has been around for over 300 years. Nowadays, it’s an exciting hub for food, fashion, arts, and crafts. The market follows a different theme each day of the week, which means each visit will be a new experience.
