What to eat in Edinburgh

There’s no need to settle for generic, touristy restaurants in Edinburgh. The city’s Bistros and Gastro Pubs serve up anything from the traditional exceptional Scottish beef and fish to the exotic Thai and Chinese flavors. Let’s look into What to eat in Edinburgh!

Edinburgh, like most large cities in the United Kingdom, is not the cheapest place to eat out, but when you know some tips, everyone will be satisfied here. For example, those on a budget can get a seat in the very best restaurants at lunchtime or in the early evening and make the most of special menus at bargain prices.

Join a Food Tour

The best way to explore the city’s gastronomy is to join a food tour. Edinburgh is full of hidden gems and a food tour is the best way to explore it with your local guide. Get around the city and visit the best pubs and restaurants in one evening. Believe us – it’s worth it!

Book your tour now and taste Haggis neeps & tatties, enjoy Edinburgh raspberry Gin, Scottish beer, and a Malt whisky tasting!

But now, let’s see our highlights of What to eat in Edinburgh.

1. “Under the Stairs”

Low ceilings and mixed-matched leather sofas create this place’s unique and cozy atmosphere. It’s a busy bar so at peak times and weekends especially, it can get super crowded. The menu is diverse and delicious! For those of you who love to eat good and cheap, here are excellent deals during the weekdays. If you’re looking to continue the night after dinner then check out their extensive cocktail menu.

2. “Tapa”

A traditional Spanish Tapas restaurant that certainly deserves to be on any list of what to eat in Edinburgh. Their Tapas Banquet menu at 15 pounds per person is excellent value and I can guarantee that you won’t fit in a desert after. For something less extravagant, you can pick and choose your favorites and send them down with one of their excellent and reasonably priced Spanish reds.

3. “Bertie’s Proper Fish & Chips”

The one and only for Fish and Chip lovers in Edinburgh. This place has the freshest haddock in town and their haggis is second to none. This place looks quite fancy, but still, it serves the best fish & chips and is a favorite among locals.

4. “Teuchters Landing”

This place serves up Scottish comfort food at its very best. Choose from Cullen skink (creamy smoked haddock soup), haggis, or lamb stew to get a real taste of what Scottish grub is really about. All that in a beautifully antique pub-style atmosphere with some of the best Scottish ales and Whiskeys to wash it down with. A must for anyone who wants to try traditional Scottish cuisine.

5. “Yes Sushi”

A major city wouldn’t be the same without a decent sushi joint, and Yes Sushi is that. Vibrant place, with welcoming staff, and great (affordable too) Japanese food. The sushi here is excellent! Make sure you don’t order too much, cheffs with portions here are very generous.

Have a tasty getaway in Edinburgh!
