Cosas que hacer en Niza

1. Hire a bike or roller blade along the Promenade des Anglais

Take an invigorating walk or roller blade (rentals available) along the cycle path that stretches for more than 10km along the Promenade towards Cannes from Nice, it is a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather and stunning views along the French Riviera coast with friends.

Along the coastline in Nice there is a really nice promenade with palm trees in the middle and all sorts of luxury hotels and casinos on the other side of the street. It is a perfect place for long walks along the see with breathtaking views. This road is prepared for both pedestrian and bikes as well. You will see many people sitting relaxed on benches but also people doing many other sport activities. There are couple places to rent roll skates or bikes next to the beach which can be a great fun.

2. Walking Tour of Nice Old Town

El Villa Saint Exupery hostel’s very own free Walking Tour of the 17º century Nice Old Town is the perfect way to get you bearings before you venture out on your own. Find out things that even most of the locals don’t even know! The narrow streets, quaint architecture and open squares make this area a beautiful place to find little shops along with the best bars and restaurants. Contact the Villa Saint Exupery Beach hostel to find out times of the daily tours.

3. Try the local cuisine

The old town is the perfect place to try some traditional niçoise meals like socca ( a delicious chickpea pancake), pissaladiere ( a tasty pizza like snack made with onions, anchovies, and black olives) or pan bagnat (a huge sandwich of vegetables, egg, anchovies tuna and olive oil).

5. Have a drink in a roof top bar

There are some beautiful vistas to enjoy from one of the many roof top bars in the city. Try out the Meridien hotel roof top bar for example and enjoy the view of the bay des Anges and the city centre gardens below.

5. Take the train into the mountains behind the city

Most people think of Nice and the French Riviera as just the coast line, but there is a whole other side to this city as the Metrople of Nice streches north into the mountains with paeks as high as 3000 meters! Take a train into the mountains and discover some of the many pictoresque villages in this scarecely populated back country.

6. Watch OGC Nice play at the Allianze Rivera stadium

Join the locals and go see a match of the city football team OGC Nice in the 35 000 all seater Allianz Riviera stadium. Tickets cost just 10 euros and are available from the OGC Nice ticket office and official shop in Place Massena, only a 2 minute walk from the Villa Saint Exupery Beach hostel.

7. Take a walk on the Promenade de Paillon

There is also a recently opened huge central park which is surrounded by beautiful, modern fountains and greenery. This is another great place for a stroll and maybe a lie down on the fresh grass. There is also a playground for kids as well. It’s a little slice of the countryside in the centre of Nice.

8. Take a ferry to Corsica, Saint Tropez or Monaco

Last but not least, it is essential to visit the old port area of Nice. Even though it is quite small, it still has a great vibe and a lot of character, with many modern and luxury boats and yachts from all around the world. Moreover, there are also ferries to Corsica, Saint Tropez and Monaco, that can add a different perspective to visiting the French Riviera. Also around the port area you will find the antiques quarter, where there are many small art galleries and antique stores to explore, making this area even more unmissable.
