The Herodes Atticus Odeon was built between 160 and 174 BC by the immensely wealthy Herodes Atticus, a philosopher from an old Athenian family, in memory of his wife Regilla.

From Mitropoulos and Callas to Sain-Saens and Rostropovich, Pavarotti, Leonidas Kavakos and Dimitris Sgouros, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus has hosted some of the biggest names in the world of theatre, music and dance.

In its 56th year, the Greek Festival is back again with some incredible shows this September. Check out the full line up below!

Getting There

The Odeon of Herodes Atticus – known as the “Herodeon” – is situated on the southern slopes of the Acropolis, on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. Entry to the Odeon is from the pedestrianised Dionyssiou Areopagitou Street, a walkway linking Athens’ main archaeological sites.  The Odeon is a short 15 minute walk through history from Athenstyle Hostel’s front door.
