New Famous Hostel members from Trieste, Faro, Catania and Basel.
We are hugely excited to announce that Europe’s Famous Hostels is expanding!
During our most recent meeting, members of the association voted in favour of four, unique and exciting new hostels to join the association. Those are located in Basel, Faro, Catania and Trieste respectively.
With the recent additions, Europe Famous Hostels now accounts for 45 members across Europe and Israel!

What this means?
What does this mean for the association? These new joiners help us to connect with one another, strengthening our network across all sides of Europe. At Famous Hostels, an important goal of ours is to enable people to travel more sustainably. For instance, by fostering a collaboration with bus and train networks we help to encourage sustainable transport between our hostels, as seen in our work on the Eco-Wanderer Campaign.
At the core of the expansion lies another goal of ours. Connecting our regions. By bringing aboard new members that sit between our current hostels, we can shorten time travelled between destinations, making it easier for people to use of more sustainable transport, through the use of trains and buses over planes. An example of this is Faro. Faro eases the journey between Portugal and Spain; helping to reduce time travelling to our existing Oasis Backpackers Hostel Granada. In the same way that Trieste becomes an important link between Italy and the Balkans and our cherished existing hostels like Hostel Celica, Ljubljana.
However, at the end of the day, we select hostels to be a part of the association that we believe are the very best; hostels that we think are FAMOUS! We are very proud to call these new joining members family, and we hope that you can enjoy them along with us.
What’s for 2024?
Europe Famous Hostel’s goals for the new year are set on expanding. Our goal is to reach a total of 50 members by the end of the year.
We also aim to shape the future of sustainable travel in hostels, in a way that is respectful and enriching to locals and tourists. We want our travellers to be able to enjoy the possibility of a more responsible journey but also a more authentic one.
Supporting this is our recent announcement of the ESG committee, designed to further promote the members’ sustainability appeal. The ESG committee will serve as both a workforce and a guideline to help the members achieve their goals.
