1. San Marco Square

Probably the most popular place in all of Venice. There are plenty of photo options here! You just need to find the right angle. We recommend taking a photo with the cathedral, gondolas by the port and the Doge’s Palace.

NOTE: On San Marco Square, there is another unusual place – Caffe Florian, which prides itself on being the oldest continuously operating café in the world (founded in 1720). The richly decorated interior of the café is a perfect background for atmospheric photos. During the day, it’s worth dropping in for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Just be prepared for high prices.

2. Ponte di Rialto

One of the best places to take a great photo in Venice is without a doubt the Ponte di Rialto. This bridge connects the districts of San Marco and San Polo and is the oldest of the four bridges on the Grand Canal, making it extremely popular. Therefore, to avoid the crowds, it is best to come here at sunrise or early in the morning. To find the best spot for a photo: cross the bridge itself from the San Marco district to the other side (San Polo), to Oresi street. Here, immediately take the first street on the right, walk around the building (Palazzo dei Camerlenghi). The spot is located on the side of the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto Bridge. It is worth going here not only for a nice photo, but also for the wonderful views, which are especially beautiful at the golden hour.

3. View of the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute

The spot is located next to the Santa Maria del Giglio gondola rental and The Gritti Palace hotel. The best way to get there is by walking from San Marco square.

4. Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs)

Another place for a unique photo in Venice is the famous Bridge of Sighs, or Ponte dei Sospiri. The unusual name of the bridge probably comes from the sighs of the prisoners who looked at Venice for the last time on their way to their cells. The most famous view of the Bridge of Sighs is from the Ponte della Paglia, easily accessible from Piazza San Marco. Mark. However, as in the case of Ponte di Rialto, you will get a better effect by photographing the Bridge of Sighs from below – from the small dock located just below the Ponte della Paglia. Unfortunately, both of these places can get crowded, so be sure to go here just after or at sunrise. You can also take an interesting photo posing on the much less popular Ponte della Canonica, located just behind the Bridge of Sighs.

5. Footbridge over the San Moise canal

Probably the most famous footbridge in Venice. It is located on Piscina S. Moise, right at the entrance to the Saint Moise Hotel. It is best to reach it from the west side of San Marco Square. It is difficult to determine the best time: in the morning, boat deliveries are made on the footbridge, and in the afternoon tired tourists sit on it. You just have to be lucky to find the footbridge completely empty.

6. Viewpoint on the Grand Canal

It is located on the roof of the Tedeschi department store right next to the Rialto Bridge. Only 75 people are admitted every 15 minutes (data for 2019), so reservations must be made online or on-site. We recommend going there early in the morning or at sunset.

7. Accademia Bridge (Ponte dell’Accademia)

Another place on the list to take a unique photo in Venice is the Accademia Bridge. This bridge connects two important districts of Venice – Dorsoduro and San Marco – and, as the name suggests, leads to the Gallerie dell’Accademia, the museum of Venetian art. However, what captivates the most about this place is the fact that it offers one of the most beautiful views of the Grand Canal in the whole city. The Academy Bridge looks best at sunrise or sunset when the sky over the canal takes on amazing colors. So if you are planning a photo session in Venice, you must go here!

8. Gelatoteca SuSo

If you are a lover of Italian ice cream, be sure to go to the famous Gelatoteca SuSo, which serves some of the best gelato in the whole city. The local ice cream is famous not only for its great taste, but also (or perhaps above all) for the colorful additions that make it obscenely photogenic. All you have to do is stock up on your favorite ice cream, then head to the nearby bridge to photograph it against the picturesque canal. We warn you in advance that it’s quite a challenge, because it’s hard to resist such appetizing ice cream and not eat it on the way to the bridge:) However, the game is worth it, because, in addition to a unique place to enjoy ice cream, you will also get one of the most Instagrammable photos from Venice. Sounds good, right?

9. Dorsoduro

The charming Dorsoduro neighborhood is another great spot for a unique Venice photo. This southernmost part of the city is a real treat for lovers of places off the beaten track. Here, the old meets the new, and next to famous art galleries you will find both noisy student streets and quiet luxury apartments. It is not without reason that Dorsoduro has been recognized as one of the best places to walk in Venice. All this makes this district the perfect backdrop for your Instagram photos. Dorsoduro has a lot to offer and there will certainly be plenty of opportunities to take interesting shots.

10. A secret bridge

When you’ve visited all the places and run out of ideas for photos, grab a pizza to go and head to the hidden pier right next to the San Moise Hotel. Due to its intimate location, this pier is an ideal place for a picnic, and at the same time an interesting place for photos. Although this place has long ceased to be a secret and has become very popular among influencers, with a bit of luck you can still enjoy it exclusively. It’s better to come here in the late morning or late afternoon, when the light on the pier is at its best. Sit back and enjoy the view of the picturesque Venetian canal.
