Welcome to Bad Gastein!

The Idea: The Euro Youth Hotel and Krone in Bad Gastein opened it's doors for the first time in December 2002. The Hotel Krone has catered to visitors to the beautiful Spa Town and ski resort of Bad Gastein since the 1880's. In 2002 the current owners took over the 3 star hotel with the fantastic location and have since worked tirelessly to create one of the most luxurious hostels in Europe. Indeed even those who arrive expecting the 3 star hotel experience tend to leave very positively surprised.

BED and BOARD: In Winter the Euro Youth Hotel provides one of the most affordable bases in the whole of the Alps to enjoy some of the best slopes in Austria with low budget high quality accommodation and great packages including ski/board hire.

BED and BREATHLESS: In Summer the hostel and the Gastein Valley are the perfect antidote to days spent traipsing around big hot stressful cities. The staff at the Euro Youth are ever keen to help you get the most out of the fantastic surrounding nature, be it hiking, biking, rafting, canyoning, paragliding, swimming, archery or soaking it all off in the adjacent thermal baths.

The Location: The Euro Youth Hostel is right at the centre of one of the best and biggest ski resorts in the Austrian Alps, just across the road from the closest lifts/gondola. More about the great skiing and snowboarding here. For those that come in the summer too the setting couldn’t be better. The Euro Youth Hostel is surrounded by various beautiful peaks and great hiking and mountain biking trails start from just outside the hostels front doors. Bad Gastein is on a main transport artery linking North/South/East and Western Europe so is easy to get to by road or rail. Just over an hour South of Salzburg, the trip by rail or road is more than worth the effort for the scenery alone.

The Hostel: A grandiose building with a lot of history. Actually a 3 star hotel but with dorm rooms too and a laid back international atmosphere. Watch out for great deals in the private rooms (all with shower/wc, flat screen tv, and most importantly balcony with mountain views) during the summer months. The Augustiner beer is imported from Munich and tastes like it. The chef is imported from Slovakia and makes some of the best Schnitzels you’ll find anywhere. He also manages to do it at a price that even a hungry backpacker can afford.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building but it is recommended to switch off the laptop head for the rooftop terrace and watch the sun set over the majestic Alps with a cold Augustiner in your hand, new friends at your side and the promise of Schnitzel in your belly.
